DEARBORN COUNTY YOUNG PROFESSIONALS OFFERING $1,500 IN SCHOLARSHIPS TO FUTURE LEADERS


Part of Dearborn County Young Professionals’ mission is to support the next generation of outstanding individuals and entrepreneurs in our community. One of the ways the organization does that is by offering our DCYP Future Leaders of Dearborn County Scholarships.

The organization is awarding $1,500 in scholarships. Eligible individuals include Dearborn County residents who are a senior in high school or home school set to graduate in spring 2018.

Applicants are required to show their work experience, school activities, and community volunteer efforts. They must also complete an essay about an idea for a new or improved business in Dearborn County. 

A successful applicant should include two letters of recommendation from teachers or professionals outside of their immediate family. A copy of the student’s most recent report card or transcript is also requested.

Completed applications should be emailed to aimyp2 -at- gmail.com. Applications may also be sent by U.S. mail or delivered in person to Dearborn County Young Professionals, C/O Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce, 320 Walnut Street, Lawrenceburg, Indiana 47025. Scholarship applications must be received or postmarked by Friday, May 11, 2018. 

Scholarship winners will be determined by members of the Dearborn County Young Professionals Committee.

BEERS & BEATS WITH DEARBORN COUNTY YOUNG PROFESSIONALS AND MELODIC CONNECTIONS APRIL 26


Dearborn County Young Professionals and Melodic Connections will drum up some fun with Beers & Beats on Thursday, April 26.

Join the two non-profit organizations at Great Crescent Brewery, 315 Importing Street, in Aurora, Indiana for the Beers & Beats drum circle. The free event brings Melodic Connections’ inspiring musicians together with local young professionals to take part in some rhythmic fellowship.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The interactive drum circle will begin at 7:30. Those attending are not required to drum. Appetizers will be provided for attendees.

Melodic Connections is a community music studio serving all ages and abilities. Using the principles of Community Music Therapy and a spirit of abundance, Melodic Connections bring groups together through music to form lasting relationships that include people with disabilities as leaders, participants and employees in the tri-state.

“We use music as a tool for change in the lives of the people we serve and the communities they are a part of. Through the facilitation of music, we will help people see the humanity in each other, moving toward more inclusive communities that are change agents for the region. When people are brought together through active music making, we believe minds will be opened and new perspectives will emerge,” the organization says.

Great Crescent Brewery opened in 2008 in an 1843 historic building that once served as a warehouse for Thomas and JW Gaff Distillery. DCYP INVITED TO ST. PATRICK'S DAY FEAST


Dearborn County Young Professionals members are welcomed to enjoy a green beer at Woody's on the Hill Bar and Grille on St. Patrick's Day.

Woody's at the Dearborn Country Club in Aurora will host a St. Patrick's Day Feast on Saturday, March 17 starting at 7:00 p.m.

DCYP members are being given a discount of $5 per person, making tickets just $40 each. For tickets, call Woody's at (812) 926-1747 extension 3 and mention that you are a Dearborn County Young Professionals member.

Each attended will enjoy a five-course meal with five drinks.

Course 1: Beer cheese with traditional Irish soda bread.
Course 2: Corned beef egg roll and Boxty
Course 3: Irish bangers and Colcannon
Course 4: Shepherd's pie
Course 5: Guinness brownies and ice cream
