AIM YP PRESENTS PRIZE CHECKS TO MAVERICK CHALLENGE WINNER DALTON RANSHAW

Dalton Ranshaw is using his winnings from the 2015 Maverick Challenge to help fund development of the product at the center of his competition winning business plan.

Ranshaw, a South Dearborn High School senior, was awarded two checks totaling $4,000 at the meeting of the South Dearborn Community Schools Board of Trustees on Monday, April 20.

Half of the prize money was for Ranshaw's championship of the Dearborn County Maverick Challenge administered by AIM Young Professionals. The other half was for his first place finish at the Maverick Challenge 10-county regional competition.

The prize checks were presented by AIM YP Maverick Challenge coordinator Hollie Stoops and AIM YP vice president Mike Perleberg. A delighted Ranshaw received a standing ovation from the school board and audience.

Ranshaw's product is called The Guardian. It is a metal brace that can be affixed to classroom doors to provide extra reinforcement from a dangerous individual attempting to gain access to students.

The Guardian currently has its patent pending, Ranshaw says. He is also making an effort to get onto the television show "Shark Tank".
